Putin and To Lam opened a joint laboratory in Hanoi

Russian President Vladimir Putin called the launch of a joint laboratory between Russia and Vietnam for the prevention and control of epidemics in Hanoi a clear example of mutually beneficial and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

Putin and Vietnamese President To Lam, who arrived in Russia on a state visit, opened a laboratory for the study and prevention of infectious diseases in Hanoi via videoconference at the joint Russian-Vietnamese Tropical Research and Technology Center.

“The launch of a high-tech joint project is another clear example of mutually beneficial and multifaceted cooperation between Russia and Vietnam. And obvious evidence of the successful development of the strategic partnership between our two countries,” Putin said during the opening ceremony.

The Russian leader noted that the Hanoi laboratory is the most modern and large-scale institution in the field of sanitary, environmental and biological safety in Vietnam.

“It will work on the basis of Russian technologies and methods, focusing on the problems of protecting the life and health of the population of Vietnam, and the entire region of Southeast Asia,” Putin emphasized.

The President added that innovative diagnostic equipment was used to equip the laboratory complex, allowing for in-depth molecular genetic and virological studies.

“With such technology, it is possible to solve a wide range of tasks for monitoring, preventing and countering dangerous infections and strains. Develop and test effective medicines and vaccines,” said the Russian President.

In addition, he noted that the Tropical Center has been operating productively for almost four decades - since 1988.

“Within its walls, Russian and Vietnamese doctors and scientists work together on applied and fundamental research not only in healthcare, but also in the field of environmental protection, combating the consequences of climate change and protecting tropical ecosystems. “Many of the studies and works carried out within the tropical center have received well-deserved recognition in the scientific world, and its scientific team enjoys a high reputation in international academic and medical circles due to its unique knowledge, rich experience and responsible attitude,” Putin said.
