Balloon with fireworks scares residents and causes fire in Espírito Santo

The release of a balloon scared residents of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, in the south of Espírito Santo, late this Sunday night (30). Images taken in different parts of the city show that, along with the artifact, fireworks were also fired (see video above).

"I woke up scared, because a flash was reflecting in my house. The noises were very loud, they sounded like bombs, it wasn't the noise of normal fireworks", reported a resident of the Valão neighborhood, who did not want to be identified.

According to the resident, the noise started around 11:10 pm and only stopped at 11:40 pm, about half an hour later.

"I didn't see the balloon falling, because when I saw it had stopped bursting, I went back home. But there was a little red dot at the top for a long time. It was quite a scare", added the woman.

The Fire Department confirmed that it was informed by residents about the balloon. However, according to the corporation, there was nothing that could be done because it was an object that was still in flight.

By note, Cachoeiro de Itapemirim City Hall reported that it was not notified about the release and that the incident surprised municipal bodies. "The releasing of balloons is a prohibited practice and poses risks to the safety of the population, the environment and also aviation", highlighted the administration, which

Balloon causes fire in the north of the state

The release of a balloon also interfered with the routine of residents this Sunday (30) in João Neiva, in the north of Espírito Santo. According to the municipality's Civil Defense, the device caused a fire in a pasture after flying over several parts of the city.

The fire started close to BR-259, after the object lost height and passed very close to an area of vegetation. There was no one in the balloon, which was stoned by residents.

The flames reached a pasture and were extinguished by the property owner, who asked for help from other people. According to Civil Defense, part of the balloon had to be removed from a railway line.
