Hull City, the competitor in the English Premier League, announced on Friday that its Welsh striker, Sorba Thomas, was involved in a collision near the training field, which led to his car turning upside down, without sustaining any injuries.
Pictures of his overturned car and scattered glass on a narrow street were widely circulated on social media.
The club said in a statement: “Hull City is relieved to confirm that Sorba Thomas was not injured following a traffic accident that occurred near the club’s training ground in Cottingham.”
He added: “The club is aware of the pictures of Sorba’s car circulating on social media, and reassures fans that he did not suffer any injuries and got out of his car completely unscathed.”
Hull City, which occupies third place in the Premier League table after three matches, will visit Chelsea on Saturday.
Arsenal coach, Spanish Mikel Arteta, said that he was “very surprised” by the statements of Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus, who claimed that he was forced to train alone, and did not receive any information before his move to Spanish champions Barcelona.
Jesus ended a four-year spell with Arsenal in September, and has since made clear that he was disappointed in the way the club dealt with his departure.
The Brazilian striker said in an interview this week that “suddenly, they asked me to train away from the group,” adding that “no one told me anything” before he signed with Barcelona.
In response to Jesus' criticism, Arteta insisted that he had spoken with the former Manchester City star about the transfer, and that they had parted on good terms.
He told reporters on Friday: “I was very surprised, frankly.” Especially since I spoke alone with Gabi (Jesus) in the locker room.”
He added: “I don’t know what words were said, and that’s okay. The words we used were all about gratitude.”
Arteta was also criticized by former Arsenal striker Ian Wright, who recently said that he felt “uncomfortable” about what he considered a lack of communication between the club and Gabriel Martinelli, who moved to Al Hilal on September 3.
But Arteta cited the presence of Belgian Leandro Trossard, who moved to Turkish Besiktas in July, to follow Arsenal's victory over Chelsea last weekend, as an example of the strength of the relationship between the club and its former players.
“I don’t know, that’s okay,” Arteta said before the Premier League champions’ trip to face Sunderland on Saturday. Sometimes I understand that when you have to deliver bad news, or news that people are not expecting, someone has to play the bad guy. “If I have to do this role, I will do it, and I understand that.”

Speaking during a press conference held at the Manchester City Football Academy on Friday, Maresca explained that he is fully aware of the importance of these matches for the fans, beyond the mere desire to score three points.
He said at the beginning of his speech: “It is a very important confrontation for multiple reasons. It is a derby match, and a particularly important one for the club and the fans. “It is an exceptional match, and the most important thing we can do is to play in our usual style, and then we will see the final result.”
He added in his statements, which were reported on the official website of Manchester City: “All derby matches are somewhat similar. I have had experiences in different derby matches.”
He pointed out, “The most heated confrontation was the one between Olympiacos and Panathinaikos in the Greek League, where the atmosphere was very tense. There is also the Juventus and Torino derby, the Seville derby and Real Betis.”
Maresca added: “They are all special matches for the fans in the first place, and for the coaching staff. It is a special occasion for everyone. “I want to play matches like this, and I love these types of confrontations.”
This short trip comes in the same week that witnessed Manchester City's victory in the Champions League against its Portuguese host Porto, 2-0, last Tuesday evening.
Norwegian Erling Haaland decided the match for City against the Portuguese champion by scoring two goals, and Marisca expressed his great happiness with the way his players dealt with the enthusiastic and charged atmosphere, whether inside or outside the field, and now asked them to repeat the same thing against Manchester United.
