Mufti Qabalan warns against policies that threaten Lebanon's existence and entity

Mufti Qabalan warned in his Friday sermon that the current policies that place Washington’s interests above Lebanon’s interests threaten its existence and entity. He pointed out that these policies put Lebanon between two options: either in the heart of the most dangerous strife or preventing it from happening. He warned against behind-the-scenes secret negotiations that constitute a threat to the Lebanese entity, and stressed the necessity of implementing the Taif Agreement and holding parliamentary elections outside the sectarian restriction. He rejects any formal obligations that conflict with the representational weight. He stressed that the date of August 14, 2006 is evidence of the necessity of sovereign resistance, and a warning that abandoning authority from the south would turn into a historical disaster. He concluded with a call for a Saudi-Iranian-Lebanese settlement, considering that the rapprochement between Riyadh and Tehran due to the transformations in the region will enable Lebanon to get rid of the worst political crew in its history.
