The names that will attend the crypto, artificial intelligence and prediction markets meeting, which will be held at the White House and where US President Donald Trump is expected to attend, are becoming clear.
Information received indicates that those who will attend the meeting include senior executives of companies such as Coinbase, Chainlink, Ripple, a16z Crypto, Paradigm, Gemini, Robinhood, Polymarket and Kalshi. It was noted that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman Michael Selig may also attend the meeting.
The meeting is planned to be held at the White House on Wednesday, August 19, at 21.30 Turkish time. It is stated that the meeting is an event that will initiate policy negotiations between the industry and the management before the Innovation Advisory Committee meeting of the CFTC to be held one day later.
It was reported that US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Paul Atkins will also attend the meeting. While Atkins' attendance was confirmed by an SEC spokesperson, the White House has not yet made an official statement regarding Trump's attendance and details of the meeting, according to Bloomberg.
According to Semafor, based on sources knowledgeable about the preparations for the meeting, there will be representatives of the industry organization Digital Chamber among the participants. Patrick Witt, Executive Director of the President's Council of Digital Asset Advisers, is also expected to attend the meeting.
Names representing companies
According to the CFTC's official committee list, the companies mentioned in connection with the meeting are represented by Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, Gemini CEO Tyler Winklevoss, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev, Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan and Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour.
The committee also includes leading names in the crypto industry such as a16z Crypto Managing Partner Chris Dixon, Chainlink Labs CEO Sergey Nazarov, Paradigm Managing Partner Alana Palmedo, Kraken Co-CEO Arjun Sethi, Crypto.com CEO Kris Marszalek and Solana Labs CEO Anatoly Yakovenko.
In addition to crypto companies, important names from the traditional finance world are among the members of the committee. CME Group CEO Terry Duffy, Nasdaq CEO Adena Friedman, Intercontinental Exchange CEO Jeff Sprecher and DTCC CEO Frank LaSalla are among these names.
However, CFTC's committee membership does not mean that the relevant person will definitely attend the White House meeting. Since an official list of participants has not been published by the White House, the expressions "expected to attend" or "invited" are used for many names.
They will meet at the CFTC one day later
Following the meeting at the White House, the CFTC Innovation Advisory Committee will hold its first meeting in Washington on Thursday, August 20. The agenda of the meeting, which will be broadcast live by CFTC, includes three main topics: regulation of cryptocurrencies, artificial intelligence and prediction markets.
The first session will be titled “The Evolution of Crypto Regulations: From Uncertainty to Clarity.” In this section, the lack of a comprehensive federal market structure in the USA, varying licensing practices among states, the overlapping jurisdictions of the SEC and CFTC, and the effects of the regulatory approach through enforcement on the industry will be discussed.
The CFTC's agenda will also include how the rules can be updated using existing powers, how regulators can complement legislation passed by Congress, and the challenges to a permanent federal crypto market structure. Cybersecurity, operational resilience and protection of customer assets will also be discussed in the same session.
CLARITY Act process continues
The meetings will be held during a period when the Senate process of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which aims to establish the regulatory framework of the crypto market in the USA, continues.
The CLARITY Act envisions establishing a regulatory system between the SEC and CFTC for the offer and sale of digital commodities and establishing registration regimes for digital asset platforms, brokers and market participants.
According to the official calendar of the US Senate, Majority Leader John Thune made a closing motion for the procedural vote that will allow the bill to be considered. The vote is planned to be held on September 15. This vote will not mean direct acceptance of the bill, but it may pave the way for discussions in the Senate General Assembly.
The main disagreements between the parties are ethical rules, anti-illegal financing provisions and how the regulations prepared by the Senate Agriculture Committee will be added to the final text. One of the ethics proposals being discussed would ban senior public officials and their spouses from issuing or backing digital assets and would require Trump to divest from his interests in crypto-related business ventures. It is reported that this proposal has not yet received the approval of the White House.
