Flavio, son of former President Jair Bolsonaro (serving a 27-year prison sentence for a coup attempt after losing to President Lula in 2022), is the new standard-bearer of Brazil’s right. His campaign has struggled after a report revealed he sought funds from a disgraced banker for a film about his father, which he acknowledged but denied impropriety. Recent polls show Lula retaking the lead. Trump previously placed tariffs on Brazil to pressure the case against Jair Bolsonaro.
