Ca Mau set a record for the largest fabric national flag in Vietnam

Ca MauThe national flag measuring 2,025 m2, weighing about 320 kg, set a record for "The largest fabric national flag in Vietnam" during the National Day flag-raising ceremony in Dat Mui.

On September 2, at the Hanoi Flagpole - Cape Ca Mau, Dat Mui commune, Ca Mau province, a flag-raising ceremony was held to celebrate the 81st anniversary of the National Day and received the record of "The largest fabric national flag in Vietnam".

Attending the ceremony were nearly 1,500 officials, civil servants, public employees, armed forces soldiers, dignitaries, religious officials, union members, youth, students and people.

The leaves are made of durable fabric, are 60 m long, 33.75 m wide and weigh about 320 kg.

At the ceremony, the Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings) awarded the diploma, badge and decided to set the record of "The largest fabric national flag in Vietnam" to the People's Committee of Ca Mau province.

According to the organizers, the flag is part of the journey across Vietnam 2025-2027, appearing at many major events, including the Lotus Village festival in Nghe An commemorating the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh and activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day in Hanoi.

The fact that the flag leaf was brought to Dat Mui on the occasion of National Day has the meaning of connecting the sacred places of the country, from Lotus Village, Hanoi Capital to the southernmost tip of the country. The image of the red flag with yellow star flying in Dat Mui also creates a highlight for activities to celebrate National Day and promote the image of Ca Mau.

This is also one of a series of activities of the first Cultural Heritage Festival and Hot Air Balloon Festival of Ca Mau province in 2026, taking place from August 28 to September 2, with the theme "Ca Mau! Fly with the country into a new era".

After the flag-raising ceremony, the great flag continues to be brought to historical and sacred places of the Fatherland. By the end of 2027, when the Journey Through Vietnam ends, the flag will be awarded to Ca Mau province and displayed at Ca Mau Cape National Park to serve people and tourists.

Mr. Pham Thanh Dat, a resident of Dat Mui commune, said he was very proud to participate in raising the flag in the flag-raising ceremony. According to him, this is one of the most special and memorable flag-raising ceremonies in his life, and is also an opportunity for him to show his pride in his hometown of Ca Mau and the country.
