Body found in the Zen neighborhood of Palermo: investigations underway

A body was found last night at the Zen in Palermo. The 118 health workers and the carabinieri who intervened after a phone call found a 45-year-old man dead on the street. Investigations are underway to ascertain what happened. The victim's name was Vito Genovese. The medical examiner intervened at the site of the discovery to establish the causes of death, which are still unclear.

The victim was hit in the face with a blunt object which the police are looking for. Maybe a screwdriver. It is not yet clear what happened, but according to an initial reconstruction it seems that the man had surprised thieves who were rummaging through some garages in public housing. A fight would have broken out and the man would have been hit in the face.

A man injured in the shoulder and with a broken rib, resident at Zen in Palermo, presented himself at the emergency room of the Cervello hospital. Domenico D'Anna, 47, said he was injured during a fight. He could be one of the people who came to the rescue of Vito Genovese, the 45-year-old with no criminal record found dead on the street this morning. It was Genovese's wife who called for help and had the body found. It is not clear whether the woman was at the window and witnessed the attack, which followed an argument, or was with her husband. She was interviewed by the police together with other witnesses. According to an initial reconstruction, Genovese was hit on the street first with a helmet and then in the face with a screwdriver, probably after finding thieves intent on stealing in the garages of a building.
