Pisa footballer collapses on the pitch due to dehydration during Pisa-Juve Stabia

Moments of fear at the Menti stadium in Castellamare di Stabia, Campania, when in the 40th minute of the first half Rosen Bozhinov, a 21-year-old Pisa defender, collapsed on the pitch in the Serie B match against the local team. Teammates and opponents rushed to the stadium worriedly, while medical workers quickly arrived on the green pitch to provide aid to the player suffering from convulsions. Bozhinov, apparently unconscious, was carried off the field on a stretcher before being transported by ambulance to the local hospital. The referee then ordered the match to be suspended, amidst the applause of the apprehensive public, waiting for more detailed information on the athlete's state of health.

The widespread fear was that Bozhinov had suffered a heart problem. The recurrence of moments of terror in Florence for Edoardo Bove is still fresh. Fortunately, for the Bulgarian defender it was only an illness due to the heat, even if he remains under observation in hospital: Bozhinov, who says League B "has always remained conscious", was the victim of very strong dehydration which caused convulsions. The episode was therefore resolved well; in the evening the player returned to an optimal state of health, but the doctors still preferred to keep him under observation in the health facility. However, there is no shortage of controversy, and not only in Castellammare. In recent days, in fact, many companies, especially in central and southern Italy, have asked to postpone their meetings to less hot times precisely to find a remedy for the high temperatures of these weeks. In Serie C, Perugia for example managed to postpone the match against Pineto from 3pm to 9pm due to the heat. In recent days, Juve Stabia fans had asked not to play in the middle of the afternoon and to postpone the match for a few hours in order to avoid the hottest hours of the day.
