Peskov said that record gas prices in Europe are still ahead

The sharp rise in gas exchange prices in Europe to more than $950 per thousand cubic meters does not indicate that the maximum has been reached, and record levels are still ahead. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, quoted by TASS.

As follows from the commentary of the Kremlin representative, even having reached the maximum download rates, the Europeans will not have time to achieve the required indicators before the onset of winter. “This suggests that the current level of gas prices on the stock exchange is not a record. Records will still be set further. And the Europeans are aware of this,” Peskov emphasized.

According to him, even in this situation, political engagement prevents Europe from using the surviving Nord Stream line, which “can be launched overnight.” In Brussels, “they are causing damage to themselves, damage to their economy, damage to their citizens, by purchasing spot gas at a price that significantly exceeds Russian prices,” Peskov added.
