CENTCOM launches "limited attack" on Iranian forces in the Strait of Hormuz

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that it had launched a “limited strike” against Iranian mine-laying forces in the Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM issued a statement regarding the US attack on Lark Island via its account on the social media platform of the US-based company X.

The statement noted that the US had conducted a “limited strike” against Iranian mine-laying forces in the Strait of Hormuz, asserting that the Washington administration carried out the attack to “protect civilian mariners, commercial vessels, and the free flow of global trade.”

The US military had launched two strikes on Lark Island, near the Strait of Hormuz, last night. Initial reports indicated that two people, including civilians, were killed and two others were injured in the attacks.

The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had announced that, in response to the attack, it had struck the Muvaffak Salti and King Hussein airbases in Jordan, used by US forces, with ballistic missiles. The Iranian military also stated that it had targeted US troops and helicopters stationed at the “Al Minhad” Air Base in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with dozens of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
