中国科学院生物多样性委员会当天在中国科学院植物研究所召开中国生物物种编目研讨会，发布《中国生物物种名录2026版》供全球用户自由下载使用。其收录的逾16.8万个物种及种下单元中，动物界新增3380个物种和477个种下单元；植物界新增431个物种，减少2个种下单元；真菌界新增3114个物种，减少1246个种下单元。
2026版中国生物物种名录首次收录轮虫动物门(双巢纲、单巢纲)476种和节肢动物门弹尾纲734种；在昆虫纲下，新增蚤目10个科、膜翅目姬小蜂科、半翅目叶蝉科和鞘翅目拟步甲科等类群总计超过2000种；在脊索动物门方面，两栖纲新增48种，总数达到767种，爬行纲新增40种，总数达到731种；真菌方面，进行分类系统调整与更新，进一步扩大收录范围，新增超过1800种及种下单元。
