Congress President Kharge Scolds Party Workers for Chanting DK Shivakumar's Name

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge pulled up party workers during the 'Sankalpa Samavesha' programme in Bengaluru after a section of the crowd disrupted the event by raising slogans in support of Karnataka chief minister DK Shivakumar.

Visibly annoyed by the chants of "DK, DK", the veteran Congress leader scolded the workers, calling them "useless fellows", and reminded them that the event was a party programme, not one focused on any individual leader.

"Will the entire country be affected if you shout here? This is not an individual's programme, it is a party programme. You useless fellows. There is no worship of individuals here, we are here for the party programme which brings all of us together," Kharge said.

Expressing displeasure over the disruption, Kharge questioned the purpose of others attending the event if a handful of workers were going to drown out the proceedings with their slogans.

"If one person says one thing and another person shouts something else, what have the others come here for? Have they come to sweep the floor?" he retorted.

Highlighting his decades-long political career, Kharge reminded the gathering that their identity stems from the Congress party and that the party remains their foundation.

"I have 58 years of political experience. Many leaders have come here; although their contribution to the party is small, the party has given them a very big contribution.," he added.

Kharge further warned that those responsible for the disruption would face disciplinary action, adding that event footage would be reviewed to identify the culprits.

"Remember, discipline is always necessary for the party. Whoever is shouting here, there will be footage. I will take disciplinary action after reviewing the footage," the Congress President warned.
