China News Service, Changchun, August 18 (Reporter Guo Jia) The reporter learned from the relevant departments of Taonan City, Jilin Province on the 18th that relying on the "Northern Chunnan Transportation" logistics channel of "Taonan production-Dalian transfer-Shanghai filling", green fuel in western Jilin has entered a new stage of batch delivery in the international market.
The day before, Shanghai Electric Group, SIPG and France's CMA CGM held a ceremony at Shanghai Yangshan Port to announce the completion of 8,016 tons of green methanol filling operations, setting a record for the world's highest single green methanol filling volume.
The green methanol injected this time is mainly supplied by Shanghai Electric Group’s Taonan Green Methanol Project. Taonan City is located in the west of Jilin, and the region is rich in wind and solar resources. In recent years, the local government has introduced a number of policies to support the hydrogen energy industry, attracting companies such as China Energy Construction and Shanghai Electric Group to implement their plans. They rely on wind and solar resources to convert green electricity into green hydrogen, and then synthesize green ammonia, green methanol and other high value-added fuels that are easy to store and transport.
In 2025, Shanghai Electric Group will build the world's first large-scale chemical plant in Taonan that combines green electricity and biomass to produce green methanol. The full life cycle carbon emissions of the products produced will be more than 65% lower than traditional coal-based methanol. Zhu Zhaokai, President of Shanghai Electric Group, said that this filling marks that China has opened up the entire industrial chain of green methanol "production, storage, transportation, processing and use".
In Songyuan, Jilin, the Songyuan Hydrogen Energy Industrial Park (green hydrogen ammonia alcohol integration) project invested and constructed by China Energy Construction is the world's largest green hydrogen ammonia alcohol integration project. It will obtain the European Union's ISCC EU certification after it is put into production at the end of 2025, and has signed the world's first ocean shipping green ammonia sales contract with Belgian CMB.TECH, Jiangsu Andefu and other companies. Wei Dongjie, deputy general manager of Nengjian Green Hydrogen Ammonia New Energy (Songyuan) Co., Ltd., said that since the project was put into operation, the units in each area of the project have been operating stably. The production load of the synthetic ammonia unit has reached 80%, and the single-day green ammonia production capacity has reached more than 500 tons.
In addition, Jilin Da'an State Power Investment Group's "Hydrogen Island Da'an Green Ammonia" project also achieved large-scale exports at the end of July this year. The first batch of 3,750 tons of green ammonia was shipped to South Korea, setting a new global single-batch green ammonia export record. At present, the project has signed purchase intention agreements with many energy companies in Europe, Japan and South Korea.
Faced with the continued growth in global demand for sustainable marine fuels, Jilin's green fuel industry layout continues to accelerate. Currently, projects such as Huaneng Taonan’s wind-solar hydrogen production to synthesize methanol, Songyuan Tianying’s wind-solar hydrogen storage ammonia alcohol, and Liaoyuan Tianying’s wind-solar hydrogen storage ammonia alcohol are stepping up construction. According to the plan of Jilin Province, by 2030, the province's green hydrogen production capacity is expected to reach 1 million tons, and the green ammonia and green alcohol production capacity will reach 6 million tons.
