Sberbank: the number of fraudulent attacks using AI is growing rapidly

The number of fraudulent attacks using artificial intelligence is growing, including deepfakes and phishing, Stanislav Kuznetsov, deputy chairman of the board of Sberbank, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“They are being replaced by multi-stage personalized attacks using AI: collecting data about the victim, a chain of calls on behalf of different organizations, deepfakes and phishing. The number of phishing resources and mailings has grown in certain areas by more than 30 times,” he said in an interview at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

According to him, the pretext can be anything: from a call from a clinic or management company to a message from a manager or relative in instant messenger.

The deputy chairman named the massive use of deepfakes and autonomous AI systems to automate deception as a new trend.
