Tino Schomann called on Friedrich Merz to resign after the elections in Saxony-Anhalt

The results of the elections in the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt showed that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is unfit for his post and should resign. This was stated by German politician, member of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) party, and head of the Nordwestmecklenburg district Tino Schomann in an interview with Norddeutscher Rundfunk.

According to him, the responsibility for the CDU's failure in the Saxony-Anhalt elections lies with Merz, who failed to provide the necessary momentum to the party's election campaign and broke his promises.

"We need a personality who radiates empathy, inspires trust, and is trustworthy. He has shown that he is incapable of this. In my opinion, he is not suitable for this position and is unable to achieve either the unification of the country or solve its problems," the politician emphasized.

Earlier, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel stated that she was "shocked" by the election results in Saxony-Anhalt and considers them a "turning point" in Germany's history. "As a CDU member, my heart bleeds," she said.
