Disabled Security Guard Beaten, Run Over Twice by SUV in Delhi

A 60-year-old disabled security guard was allegedly beaten and run over twice by an SUV after an argument at a tempo stand in Delhi’s Peeragarhi. CCTV footage of the incident has shocked social media users, many of whom called the attack “inhuman” and demanded strict punishment for those involved. Police have registered a murder case and launched a search for the accused.

What began as a late-night argument at a parking stand in West Delhi ended in a scene so brutal that even hardened social media users said the CCTV footage left them disturbed.

Bijender, a 60-year-old security guard who worked nights at a tempo stand in Peeragarhi, was allegedly beaten and then run over twice by an SUV in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident, captured on CCTV, is now at the centre of a murder investigation.

Police said the elderly man was found lying in a pool of blood near the entrance gate of Peeragarhi village after they received a PCR call around 4.03 am. He later succumbed to his injuries.

But what investigators initially thought may have been a road accident quickly turned into something far more disturbing.

What does the CCTV footage show?

According to police, CCTV footage from the area allegedly shows a black SUV stopping near the tempo stand where Bijender was seated on a chair.

A man is then seen stepping out of the vehicle and arguing with the elderly guard.

Within moments, the confrontation reportedly turns violent.

The footage allegedly shows the accused assaulting Bijender with a stick before getting back inside the SUV. As the 60-year-old, who had a disability in one leg, tried to move away from the spot, the vehicle rammed into him and ran over him twice before speeding away.

Police sources said the man lay bleeding on the road for over an hour before help arrived.

Investigators also suspect that three to four people may have been inside the SUV at the time of the incident.

Why was the security guard targeted?

Police suspect the incident may have stemmed from a road rage-like altercation near the parking stand, though investigators are also probing whether there could have been another motive linked to vehicle theft or a dispute involving the parking area.

Officials said the exact motive is still unclear.

A case has been registered under Sections 103 (murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Multiple police teams are currently trying to identify the SUV and trace the accused. No arrests had been made at the time this report was written.

Who was Bijender?

For people in the area, Bijender was not just “the guard at the tempo stand.”

Locals described him as a quiet and simple man who continued working despite serious health struggles.

According to his son Ravi Sharma, Bijender had suffered an accident around a year ago that left one of his legs disabled. He spent months on bed rest but eventually returned to work to continue supporting the family.

“My father had met with an accident about a year ago and suffered a disability in one leg,” Ravi said.

“He continued working there so he could keep earning for the family.”

Ravi said the family only learned about the incident early in the morning after receiving a phone call.

“When we checked the CCTV footage, we saw that first a man got out of the car and attacked him with a stick. Then the car ran over him multiple times,” he said.

“My father never had any enmity with anyone.”

Bijender is survived by his son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter. His wife died seven years ago after an illness.
