What happened in yesterday's hearing of the Ekrem İmamoğlu case

In the hearing held yesterday, Ekrem İmamoğlu's lawyer Hasan Fehmi Demir made a procedural statement.

Evaluating the new courtroom where the trial started, Demir said, "Excuse me, but this place looks like the Maksim stage. Since a fair trial cannot be held here, we hope that the trial will be held in the Istanbul Courthouse, which is its main place." he said.

Regarding İmamoğlu's failure to defend himself, Demir stated that the defendant who exercises his right to remain silent can always waive this and defend himself.

Demir claimed that İmamoğlu had no decision to exercise this right, but the court recorded it in the minutes for different reasons.

Stating that İmamoğlu did not give up his right to defense, Demir requested that his client be interrogated and the hearing begin with his defense statement.

At the hearing, the statements of some defendants' lawyers were also heard.
