The chief prosecutor of the National Court assumes the investigation of the migration crisis in Ceuta

The chief prosecutor of the National Court, Jesús Alonso, has personally assumed the investigation following the judicial proceedings opened by Judge María Tardón on the migration crisis that occurred in Ceuta on July 30.

Fiscal sources report that the procedure opened by Tardón, which corresponded to the prosecutor José Perals according to the distribution, has been assumed by Alonso, who has made this decision personally given the uniqueness and significance of the case and in compliance with his responsibility as head of the Court.

This decision, the sources emphasize, is not uncommon for it to occur in any fiscal body, mainly in the specialized prosecutor's offices, so that it will be Alonso who writes and signs the report on the admission of the complaint for processing and on the competence of the National Court to investigate the facts.

Alonso's decision comes after the report provided by the National Police to Judge María Tardón, which describes what happened in Ceuta on July 30 and 31 as a "planned" and in no case "spontaneous" massive entry of people, and places among its organizers and executors people linked to the Moroccan security forces.

The report prepared by the National Center for Immigration and Borders (CENIF) at the request of Judge Tardón has outraged the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, who has complained to the General Council of the Judiciary that the judge prohibited the Police from providing that document to his superiors and the Government.
