Real Madrid beats Inter Milan in its debut in the Champions League

The home team wastes several scoring opportunities to extend its lead during the second half

Carlos Augusto closed the gap for Inter Milan after a pass from Lautaro Martínez. Real Madrid missed several opportunities to extend their advantage throughout the second half. José Mourinho's men make their debut in the top European competition at the Bernabéu with a tough test against the Italian team, who despite not doing well in the Champions League last year, did manage to lift Serie A again. The Portuguese coach has opted to place Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield to cover the losses of Camavinga, Bernardo Silva and Arda Güler.
