Maybe also because Süle wasn't playing in his regular position. Former national soccer player Niklas Süle celebrated his district league debut in an unusually offensive role. The 30-year-old is playing for SV Tiefenbach in the Karlsruhe district this season. Three months after his departure from Borussia Dortmund, Süle played in central midfield and in attack - instead of in defense as was usual in his professional career. Tiefenbach suffered a clear 2:7 (0:3) defeat against the relegated state league SG Kirchardt despite a header goal from the former Champions League winner. When asked whether he had enjoyed it, Süle said: "As much as a 7:2 is fun." But he had decided not to give any interviews. In front of around 500 spectators, Süle was initially barely involved in the game, but became more active in the second half. After a corner he headed in the 75th minute to make it 2-6 and played through. Süle only trained with the team three times before the start, said coach Jason Walzel. You deservedly lost. “Maybe the hustle and bustle will slowly die down and we can concentrate on playing football,” said Walzel: “Niklas hasn’t been there that long. He has to find his way again first." Walzel is one of Süle's friends through whom the engagement came about. "After 13 years of professional football, it is an absolute gift for me to be able to stand on the pitch with my friends and once again enjoy the joy of this wonderful sport to the fullest," said Süle when the move was announced.
