Films by Holoubek, Pawlikowski and Adamik in the main competition

Films in the main competition of the Gdynia festival will be assessed by a jury chaired by director, producer, screenwriter, essayist and philosopher Krzysztof Zanussi. Working with him will be: editor and screenwriter Przemysław Chruścielewski, film set designer Jagna Dobesz, actress Małgorzata Hajewska-Krzysztofik, composer Mikołaj Trzaska, producer Marcin Wierzchosławski and cinematographer Iza Zbroniec-Zajt.

The Golden Lion in the main competition is contested by: "The Time That Never Came" dir. Julia Rogowska, "Good Boy" dir. Jan Komasa, "Exotic" dir. Sonja Orlewicz-Zakrzewska "Fluidy" dir. Maria Wider, "Hot Spot" dir. Agnieszka Smoczyńska, "Single Woman" dir. Eliza Godlewska, "Less Stranger" dir. Kristoffer Rus, "Our Revolution" dir. Piotr Domalewski, "Homeland" dir. Paweł Pawlikowski, "Duel" dir. Łukasz Palkowski, "Tell me what you feel" dir. Łukasz Ronduda, "Through the Wall" dir. Maciej Sobieszczański, "Picasso's Mermaid" dir. Janusz Zaorski, "Violetta Villas" dir. Karolina Bielawska, "Winter under the sign of the crow" dir. Kasia Adamik and "Wild, Wild East" dir. Jan Holoubek, which is the opening film of the festival.

The winners of the Sapphire Lions in the Perspektywy competition, to which eight productions qualified, will be selected by a jury chaired by director Dorota Kędzierzawska together with set designer and decorator Elwira Pluta and actor Jacek Poniedziałek. The best picture from the 28 titles participating in the short film competition will be selected by: interior decorator and set designer Ewa Braun (chairman of the jury), director and screenwriter Bartosz M. Kowalski and film producer Joanna Szymańska.

Additionally, films from the main competition and the perspective competition will compete for the award for directorial debut or second film. The winner of the distinction will be decided by: director and screenwriter Sławomir Fabicki (chairman of the jury), director Magdalena Piekorz and film director Wojciech Staroń. Winner of the Golden Lion competition. Janusz Korczak, in which five titles for children and teenagers are nominated, will be selected by audience votes.

This is where the Platinum Lions will go

During the festival, the Platinum Lions award for lifetime achievement will be received by Halina Prugar-Ketling, a Polish editor associated with cinema since the early 1950s. During over forty years of work, she has edited over a hundred documentaries, feature films and television productions.

She collaborated with canonical creators of Polish cinema, including: with Aleksander Ford, Janusz Morgenstern, Roman Polański, Jerzy Skolimowski, Andrzej Żuławski, Janusz Zaorski, Janusz Kijowski, Filip Bajon and, above all, Andrzej Wajda.

The celebration of Polish cinema is over half a century old

The 51st Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia will take place on September 21-26.

The history of the Polish Feature Film Festival dates back to 1974. The most interesting Polish films compete in Gdynia for the Golden, Silver and Sapphire Lion statuettes as well as numerous individual awards - both recognized filmmakers and debuts.
