Florence, Lorena Isceri kidnapped by her ex Federico Vella and thrown from the overpass: dead at 45

FLORENCE – Lorena Isceri, 45 years old, made her last desperate attempt to save herself at 2.10pm. Tied up in the trunk of her car, she turns to the man who is behind the wheel and who has just kidnapped her: Federico Vella, 36 years old, her ex-partner. She has been kidnapped, but finds the clarity to pronounce the words that he had hoped to hear for weeks, having not accepted the end of the relationship: "Federico, calm down, I love you - she tells him while she is imprisoned - We can get back together".

For her, who had fled to Puglia in an attempt to get away, fearing her ex, these are perhaps the most difficult words to pronounce. But it's the only card available. But he doesn't change his mind. He doesn't free her. He doesn't hesitate. And he drives the car further and further, from Florence to that 40 meter high overpass in Barberino di Mugello on the Panoramica A1, from which he will then push it into the void.

Her words are known because, shortly after 2pm, while she was locked up in the dark, despite her wrists and ankles tied with some cable ties, she managed to take her mobile phone and call the 112 station: "I've been kidnapped, help me", she says. "My ex-partner beat me and put me in the trunk of the car." He explains that he hears the noise of the engine and the asphalt. The operator on the other end instantly understands that it is an emergency. Stay calm.

The car is located for a moment in the Novoli district, but tracking via cell phones will prove to be very complex given the vehicle in motion. After about a minute, the call is forwarded to the police station. The line remains open for another 19 minutes. Shortly after, a noise is heard, like a door. The operator remains silent. At that moment Lorena tries to appease her ex-partner, but there is nothing she can do. The car continues and she continues, speaking softly so as not to be heard, to give any useful information. He says that she was kidnapped at home and that perhaps Vella is headed towards his home. He provides the address, but is not sure: he can't see outside. The police try in every way to track down the car, but when they finally find it, stopped on the overpass, it is already late. Officers and firefighters try for a long time to calm Vella, but in the end he throws himself into the void.

An autopsy will be carried out on the two bodies tomorrow. The Florence Public Prosecutor's Office awarded the tasks. The forensic doctors will have to ascertain whether Lorena died on impact on the ground or whether she was killed before (no obvious signs of violence were found during the first external observation). The test on Vella will instead serve to understand whether the man had taken psychotropic drugs or other substances that altered his behavior. The holder of the file is the prosecutor Antonio Natale, while the police investigations are directed by the head of the flying squad Domenico Balsamo. It emerges, based on the stories of Lorena's family and friends, that Vella - who had already shown jealous attitudes in the past - had started sending continuous messages to her ex after the breakup. She was afraid, she felt persecuted, but she had chosen not to report. She had moved away from Florence, joining her family in Puglia to feel safe.
