BENGALURU: For parents who leave their toddlers at day care while they work, the videos are chilling. Five nannies at a day care centre on the premises of tech company, Capgemini, in Brookefield have been booked for allegedly subjecting children to inhuman treatment, including locking them in bathrooms, putting them inside a frontloading washing machine and spraying water into their mouths with a toilet jet. The complaint was filed by a child helpline official, who received four videos of the alleged ill-treatment. According to police sources, the video was recorded by a staffer, whose friend had been fired from her job at the same centre last month. HAL police registered the case against Manjula, Vijayalakshmi, Bhavani, Sindhu and Bindu under the Juvenile Justice Act and Section 351(act with criminal intimidation) of BNS. Reacting to the incident, the company in a statement said, “Capgemini’s foremost priority is the health, safety and well-being of its employees and their family members. We are cooperating fully with the relevant authorities and assisting them in their efforts to establish the facts. As a precautionary measure, we are temporarily closing the Bengaluru campus day care facility.”

Videos show nannies threatening toddlers of 2-3 years for crying A senior police officer further said they would issue notices to the five women, directing them to appear for questioning. Cops said the videos purportedly show the nannies threatening toddlers aged 2-3 years when they cried or created disturbance. The toddlers are the children of techies. The cops Wednesday inspected the premises and collected CCTV footage from the centre. “Also, we will ask the parents or guardians of the toddlers whether they noticed any such unnatural activities in the centre or whether their children complained of ill-treatment,” he said.
