Two neighbors who were washing carpets on the roof in Gaziantep died due to electric current.

The incident occurred in Dumlupınar Neighborhood of Şahinbey district. Necla Değirmenci (41), a mother of two who was washing carpets on the roof with her tenant Aysel Baltan (34), a mother of three, was caught in an electric current originating from the carpet washing machine.

Aysel Baltan, who noticed the situation and tried to save Değirmenci, was also caught in the current.

The women's children asked neighbors for help. Upon the neighbors' notification to the 112 Emergency Call Center, police and medical teams were dispatched to the address. Değirmenci and Baltan, who were taken to two different hospitals by ambulance following the initial response, could not be saved despite all the efforts of the doctors.

The bodies of Aysel Baltan and Necla Değirmenci were handed over to their relatives for burial after autopsies performed at the Gaziantep Forensic Medicine Institute morgue. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
