Man with psychiatric history is arrested for attacking his partner in Oeiras do Pará

The case occurred on Wednesday (12) and was announced this Saturday (15) by the Military Police, who found the woman after the attacks. The suspect was arrested and taken, along with the victim, to the police station, where the Civil Police continued their investigations. During the investigation, the police discovered that the couple had met while the two were undergoing psychiatric treatment at the Fundação Hospital de Clínicas Gaspar Vianna, in Belém. According to the Civil Police, the man was medically discharged in May this year and returned to Oeiras do Pará. Afterwards, he expressed a desire to meet his partner again. His father went to Belém, picked up the woman from the hospital and took her to live with his son. According to the police, the couple stopped using controlled medication. The man allegedly went into a rage and, motivated by jealousy, attacked his partner. The analysis of the antecedents showed that the suspect has six criminal cases, two incidents of mental insanity and an urgent protective measure. The police reported that the attacks occurred around three months after the man was discharged from Gaspar Vianna Hospital. The police authority even requested the court to temporarily hospitalize the suspect, considering his psychiatric history. The request, however, was not accepted by the Judiciary. The court ordered the man's preventive detention to guarantee public order and the victim's physical integrity. He remains in prison and at the disposal of Justice. The victim was taken to the Specialized Reference Center for Social Assistance (Creas), where he should receive reception and monitoring from a multidisciplinary team.
