Two 12 Septembers: Reminiscent of a Coup, Confronted with the Election Agenda

There are two important September 12ths in our history:

September 12, 1980...

September 12, 2010...

The first is a military coup! Today is the 46th anniversary. The terror that ravaged the whole country on September 11 ended on September 12! As of September 13, a new state structure was created under the decision-making authority of 5 generals, in which all institutions of democracy were either closed or transformed.

Today we still use the constitution of that period! The Political Parties Law, which was based on this constitution, one-third of which was changed and a significant part of which was reworked several times according to the needs of the day, was left untouched!

In order for the September 12 administration to make its own power inviolable and sustainable, the people had to say yes to the new constitution. For this purpose, the following decision was made:

If this constitution is passed, elections will be held on November 7, 1983, with a transition to the parliamentary system!

The method used to get the people to say yes to the new constitution or a radical constitutional change was also tried in 2010 and was "successful"!

The spirit of the constitutional referendum on September 12, 2010 was to radically change the membership structure of the Constitutional Court and the higher judiciary. Around these two fundamental changes, articles that almost all of the nation would find "very correct" were added. Who would say no to expanding the right to unionize and giving new rights to forest villagers?

On the other hand, 4 out of 10 voters said no, taking into account the critical articles. FETO supported this constitutional amendment referendum enough to say:

“I wish the dead would rise from their graves and vote!”

With these changes, the structure of the higher judiciary has virtually transformed.

The continuation has been extended until July 15!

Both September 12 are processes that capsize democracy and that we do not want to happen again.

Today is September 12, 2026.

It's the 46th anniversary of the first September 12th and the 16th anniversary of the second September 12th!

What is the state of respect for the will of the nation and trust in the rule of law today?

There is no need to make long discussions!

It is enough to convey the situation of two districts.

Üsküdar and Foça!

For nearly two years, we have always emphasized the following dilemma in operations related to local governments:

No one is untouchable, and of course mayors should also be investigated when there are allegations of corruption against them. However, the operations result in fighting the opposition rather than fighting corruption!

Because when the mayor is arrested, the government does everything to win the deputy mayor election.

In Üsküdar, all the methods used so far were experienced in the harshest way; arrest, transfer, change sides in secret ballot!

Even the base of the People's Alliance says "no way" to this much!

In Foça, the president elected from CHP switched to AKP. The interesting thing is that AKP did not nominate a candidate in Foça in the March 31, 2024 elections! Now he has taken the presidency of the district for which he did not even nominate a candidate!

Today is not a leaf from history, it is a historical day!

The other day, Erdoğan said briefly in his hometown Rize:

“We will get through the upcoming elections successfully!”

A sentence that gives rise to two basic interpretations:

1-Elections are approaching!

2-You need to "get over it" successfully!

Today is September 12!

A fair, democratic election will pave the way for the country!

In the elections, the one who supports the people and gives them confidence wins!

In our opinion, Erdogan may have started his election campaign in Rize!
