The Palio dell'Assunta returns to Siena today after postponements

The Palio dell'Assunta returns to center stage today after the postponements of 16 and 17 August. Siena is preparing to experience one of the symbolic events of the Italian summer, with Piazza del Campo once again the protagonist after the days of bad weather which had made the tuff track impassable.

The weather situation The sun is shining on Piazza del Campo and no precipitation is expected: conditions that allow the Career to be confirmed according to the established programme. The municipal machine is operational and the firecracker shots, at 3pm and 3.30pm, marked the warnings that open the afternoon of the Palio.

The afternoon program At 4.10pm the clearing of the track will begin, while at 4.45pm the parade of the mounted Carabinieri squad is scheduled. Five minutes later, at 4.50 pm, the Historical Parade will enter Piazza del Campo. Finally, at 7pm, the horses are scheduled to leave the Cortile del Podestà for the Palio.

Entrance to the square will be permitted from 4pm to 6pm exclusively from via Dupré, until the maximum capacity is reached. Access to the stages will however be possible until 4.30pm.
