Fatal accidents in rallies: tragedy at the Val d'Aveto Rally and the Monte Erice time trial

Tragedy on the second day of the tenth Val d'Aveto Rally: during the first special stage "Due Valli", in the hinterland of Genoa, crew number 6 on board a Skoda Fabia went off the road around 11am on a curve near Mileto. The co-pilot died instantly.

The investigations

The Sestri Levante carabinieri are reconstructing the dynamics of the accident. Two special stages of the rally were scheduled today, both to be covered twice before the arrival of the crews in Allegrezze.

Accident in Sicily

Another serious episode occurred at the Monte Erice time trial: a car in the race went off the road and hit three people: two were killed, while another was seriously injured. The race, suspended, is the 68th edition of the historic competition organized by the Automobile Club Trapani, valid for the Italian classic car uphill speed championship (CIVSA), Italian mountain speed championship (CIVM) and tricolor classic cars, with 260 registered crews.
