Parliamentary intervention on the migration crisis in Ceuta

When she went up to the rostrum, Santiago Abascal had already left, Pedro Sánchez and Alberto Núñez Feijóo were looking bored at their cell phones and everything indicated that the parliamentary session, once again, was going to end in failure. From one and the other, because let's see if this constant dialogue of breams, this exhibition of poisoned darts, of jokes that who knows who writes so that they repeat without conviction and without grace, is not a failure of Spanish politics. But this time, when it came to what it was about, with more than 80 corpses in the Ceuta morgue, hundreds of children sleeping on the floor with the same clothes as a month ago and a city that lives with a heavy heart because a spark is enough for everything to explode, the political posturing was unbearable. And, suddenly, something, a tone, a phrase, a way of saying things that sounded like real anger, rage, punching the table, looking in the face and asking straight up:

-How far do your honors want to go? Until they kill someone?

Neither Sánchez nor Feijóo were able to hold his gaze. The deputy began with the president: “Today he should have announced that he was going to defend the human rights of the thousands of children who are waiting in Ceuta.” And addressing the entire chamber he warned: "They are children, ladies and gentlemen, children, not invaders, not soldiers, they did not come with bombs, they came at most with a float, crying; they were children, not enemies, and in the face of a child alone and scared without his family, without a place to sleep and eat, the only possible response is to welcome and protect."

The following slap was for the PP leader: "Solidarity with Ceuta, they say in Vox and the PP, so be supportive. It is not enough to say that Ceuta is overwhelmed and then refuse to receive minors in your communities. If you want to help Ceuta, it is very simple, pick up your mobile phone and call your regional presidents. You have a very powerful, very powerful key. Being a patriot means taking charge of your country's problems, not making them bigger." Feijóo, like Sánchez before, avoided looking at the deputy, who continued to hit, without respite, now the Vox deputy José María Figaredo: "He has talked about hunting migrants. He has used this platform to talk about human beings as if they were animals. He knows why he uses that word. It is a way of dehumanizing. First they are illegal, then invaders, then enemies, then a pest and now game that can be hunted. Their name is erased, then their face... If a deputy points out a prey, some Troglodyte may think that he has permission to go hunting. Words have consequences, of course they do. How far do your honors want to go? Now do you hide and look at your cell phone?

In his harsh intervention he also admitted the Government's failures. He looked at Pedro Sánchez: "Morocco will have to give explanations, but we also have to do some reflections. Morocco's policy of appeasement has failed. We warned them when they abandoned the Sahrawi people. The rights of a people are not exchanged for supposed diplomatic tranquility."
