Kaşif Kozinoğlu Death Investigation: 9 Suspects Released from the Prosecutor's Office, 3 Arrests, 6 Referred to the Judgeship with a Request for Judicial Control

The statements at the prosecutor's office of 9 suspects who were detained and referred to the courthouse in the second wave operation carried out within the scope of the investigation into the death of former MİT officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu have been completed. 3 suspects taken into custody were referred to the judgeship with a request for arrest, and 6 suspects were referred to the judgeship with a request for judicial control.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek made a statement on his NSosyal account regarding the investigation into the death of former MİT officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu, who died in Silivri Prison in 2011.

Reminding that Kozinoğlu became ill in Silivri No. 1 L Type Closed Penal Institution, where he was detained, on November 12, 2011, and was transferred to Silivri State Hospital, Gürlek said, "It was determined that he had died when he was taken to the hospital. In the investigation carried out after the incident, camera records and medical documents were examined, witness statements were taken from the penal institution, gendarmerie and medical staff, his ward mates and the deceased's wife, on April 10. "It was decided in 2012 that there was no need for prosecution." He used the following expressions.

Minister Gürlek stated that the file was re-examined by the Unsolved Crimes Investigation Department and noted the following:

"In the light of the evaluations made by our Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the decision of non-prosecution was lifted with the decision of the Silivri Criminal Judgeship of Peace dated 26 August 2026, and the investigation was restarted. Within the scope of the new investigation, a confidentiality decision was taken, a special investigation team was formed and comprehensive studies were initiated to re-clarify the incident in all its aspects. At today's stage, our Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office initiated legal proceedings against 11 suspects who were working in the penal institution on the date of the incident, 10 suspects were detained, and 1 suspect was detained." "It has been determined that he is abroad as a FETO fugitive."

One of the 10 suspects taken into custody was arrested, and 9 suspects were released, 7 of them on judicial control condition.
