In his statement on the social media platform of the US-based company X, Rodriguez reacted to the US sanctions targeting the mining, foreign trade and metallurgy sectors in Cuba.

Accusing US Secretary of State Marco Rubio of "deliberately acting to prevent the Cuban government from providing basic services to the public," Rodriguez said, "These sanctions especially prevent the shipment of containers carrying food, medicine and medical equipment supplied by private micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MIPYME) in Cuba." he said.

Describing the sanctions in question as a "failed obsession" against Cuba, Rodriguez said, "ICAP is an institution that has promoted friendship, international solidarity, justice and peace for over 60 years; it represents the exact opposite of what the US Secretary of State has always advocated in his corrupt policy." made his assessment.

New sanctions from the USA to Cuba

According to the national press, the USA, within the scope of its pressure policy aimed at achieving political and economic change in Cuba, yesterday included 9 government institutions, including the Ministry of Construction, and people connected to the mining, foreign trade and metallurgy sectors, on the sanctions list.

In addition, three senior executives of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), which the USA had previously placed on the sanctions list, are among the sanctioned names.

It was stated that these names are ICAP President Fernando Gonzalez Llort, one of the five agents of the "Wild Bee Network" (Red Avispa) who were extradited to Cuba after being convicted in the USA, First Vice President Noemi Rabaza Fernandez and North America Director Leima Martinez Freire.
