Report rules out suicide and points to intervention by a second person in the death of a military police officer

The hypothesis of suicide of Military Police (PM) soldier Gisele Alves Santana is incompatible with the material elements analyzed by the expert, as part of the investigation of the case. The information is contained in a complementary report from the São Paulo Institute of Criminalistics, signed last Tuesday (1st).

“The evaluation of the set of [blood] stain patterns and other objective elements identified at the scene contradict the hypothesis of a suicidal event”, says the document.

The report also points out that a second person intervened in Gisele's death, which corroborates the hypothesis that she was killed and did not commit suicide. Lieutenant Colonel Geraldo Leite Rosa Neto is accused of feminicide against Gisele, his then partner, in February this year.

“The hypothesis of second-person intervention withstood comparison with all the objective elements examined, and no material element was identified that contradicted it”, says the report.

Gisele was found with a gunshot wound to the head, on February 18, in the apartment where the couple lived. The lieutenant colonel, who was at the scene, called for help and reported the case to the authorities as a suicide. The record was later changed to suspicious death. Gisele's family disputed the suicide version from the beginning.

The defendant was arrested a month after the crime, on March 18, in the city of São José dos Campos (SP). He remains detained at the Romão Gomes Military Prison, in the capital of São Paulo.

In an interview with Agência Brasil, the victim's family lawyer, José Miguel Silva Junior, said that the result is no surprise and that previous reports had already ruled out the hypothesis of suicide.

"From the beginning, we have always worked with this aspect [of feminicide]. The other reports also show that Gisele did not commit suicide. And the expert, when heard, made it clear, in person, that Gisele would not be able to commit suicide", said Silva Junior.

The lawyer informed that a new hearing in the case will take place next Tuesday (8), when the defendant will be questioned.

"The accused's defense insisted on some points, asked some questions, the questions were duly answered, and [the answer] only corroborates everything in the case file. In other words, the accused's denial [for Gisele's murder] is isolated in the case file."

Necroscopic reports carried out by the Legal Medical Institute (IML) on Gisele's body, even at the beginning of the investigations, already showed blunt injuries to the face and cervical region. Such injuries were described as the result of digital pressure and excoriation compatible with nail stigma, i.e., caused by the nail.

A neighboring witness said, in testimony, that he heard a shot at 7:28 am on the day of Gisele's death. At 7:57 am, Geraldo Neto contacted Copom about the incident. There was an interval of almost half an hour for the distress call.

The lawyer also mentioned the photo of the victim with the gun in his hand taken by rescuers. He explained that, in the image, the victim has the gun in his hand, which would be unusual in cases of suicide.

Furthermore, the lawyer highlighted that three female police officers went to the couple's apartment to clean it hours after the incident, which has already been confirmed in their statements.
