Marco Rubio warns that strikes on oil tankers will continue
The United States does not intend to stop its strikes against Iranian oil tankers. Traveling to Colombia on Tuesday, Marco Rubio warned that Washington would continue to target these ships as long as Iran tried to attack American warships.
“Every time they do it or try to do it, they will lose tankers,” the Secretary of State declared to journalists, estimating that new strikes could still take place during the day.

Washington says it responded to Iranian attacks targeting one of its warships. The US military said on Tuesday it had struck and destroyed five oil tankers in the Gulf, in response to actions carried out over the past two days by the Revolutionary Guards.
The US Middle East Command assures that the crews were ordered to leave the buildings before the strikes. According to the US military, the Iranian attacks against the US Navy ship did not cause any injuries to the soldiers on board.

Tehran threatens to strike US bases if its tankers are attacked
Tehran warned overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday that it would retaliate against American military installations in the region in the event of new strikes targeting its oil tankers. The chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces, Ali Abdollahi, assured that any attack on a ship carrying Iranian oil would trigger a military response.
“Any attack on Iranian tankers will result in strikes by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran against US bases in the region,” the general told state television. He said the US military had previously called for the evacuation of Iranian tanker crews in anticipation of possible strikes.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards claimed Tuesday to have seized an American underwater drone at the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic area locked by Tehran. The US military has confirmed the loss of one of its drones, which broke down while monitoring the waters of the region. Washington assures, however, that it was an old model not carrying any classified sonar or radar equipment and not collecting sensitive data. The United States has extended its sanctions to all Iranian airlines while Tehran claims to have made significant progress with Oman on the management of the Strait of Hormuz. The discussions concern in particular the creation of a permanent corridor and the navigation conditions in this strategic passage.
