The Tourism Program trips of the Institute for Seniors and Social Services (Imserso) for the 2026-2027 season will begin to be marketed starting this Monday, September 14, in the autonomous communities of Andalusia, Aragón, Castilla y León, Extremadura, Galicia, Madrid, Melilla, Navarra and La Rioja for preferred users and on September 15, for non-preferred users.
In Asturias, Catalonia, Castilla-La Mancha, Valencian Community, Ceuta, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Cantabria, Murcia and the Basque Country, users of the program will be able to access the purchase starting on September 16 for preferred users and a day later, on the 17th, for non-preferred users, as specified by this body, attached to the Ministry of Social Rights.
The Imserso remembers that each province is assigned a number of available trips to each of the destinations in proportion to the number of people over 65 years of age residing and registered in it. During the first days of marketing, from September 14 to 18, applicants can only book existing trips in their quota per province, with the aim of staggering the sale to avoid possible overloading of the travel reservation centers of the contracting companies and thus guarantee their correct functioning. From September 19, the possibility of booking trips that have remained unmarketed in any province is opened, although the marketing process remains open throughout the season.
Furthermore, Imserso wanted to avoid the concentration of trips on a few dates and, to this end, it has distributed 36% of the places in each lot proportionally during each month of the travel campaign.
In this way, the Social Security managing entity has set the objective of contributing to the deseasonalization of travel and avoiding excessive overcrowding during periods of maximum occupancy. Through this route, it is also intended to improve seasonality, ensuring tourist activity all year round that allows the sustainability of the sector and the maintenance of employment, especially in months with fewer tourists.
How to reserve
Pensioners will be able to book their trip to destinations on the Peninsular Coast, Insular Coast or Getaway Tourism either through the websites www.turismosocial.es (in the cases of peninsular coast tourism and getaway tourism) and www.mundicolor.es (in the cases of insular coast tourism) with their DNI and their accreditation code, or at any of the authorized travel agencies only with the DNI.
In the 2026-2027 travel season, a total of 879,213 places will be offered, intended for tourism on the peninsular coast, the island coast and getaway tourism. 50.1% (440,284 places) are allocated for tourism on the peninsular coast, 25.9% (228,142 places) are allocated for tourism on the island coast and 23.9% (210,787 places) are allocated for getaway tourism, which includes cultural circuits, nature tourism, provincial capitals, and autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla and European origin and the first of the trips, for which 4,602,255 people are accredited, will take place starting October 1 to Oropesa.
In this new season, the Ministry led by Pablo Bustinduy has maintained the two new features that were introduced the previous season. Firstly, a reduced rate so that pensioners with fewer resources can travel for 50 euros, regardless of destination and with Imserso assuming the remaining cost of the trip.
In total, 7,447 places have been reserved for this purpose, for those people who receive a benefit equal to or less than the amount of non-contributory disability or retirement pensions from Social Security.
In relation to the flat rate of 50 euros, the destinations most requested by beneficiaries have been Andalusia and cultural circuits, with 1,267 and 1,189 users respectively. The next most requested destination has been Catalonia, with 845 travelers.
This initiative for retirees with lower pensions was used by 5,221 users in its first season, as specified on Thursday by the Minister of Social Rights, Consumption and Agenda 2030, Pablo Bustinduy, during the presentation in León of the Imserso 2026-2027 travel season.
The measure has also had a "wide implementation" throughout the national territory and pensioners from all Spanish provinces have benefited from it. Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Alicante and Malaga are among the main places of origin for travelers.
Secondly, a percentage of places have also been reserved so that those users who wish can travel with their pets, both on trips to the peninsular coast and those to the island coast, always traveling in accordance with the regulations and the care required by these animals and more than a thousand people (1,066) have traveled accompanied by their pets, always in accordance with the regulations and the care of the animals.
