Man Accused of Attacking Police Officer in Florida Hospital Shown in Blood-Covered Mugshot

A man accused of fighting a police officer in a Florida hospital appears to be covered in blood and bruises in his chilling mugshot.

Ronald Jeffery Johnson, 51, was arrested Saturday after attacking a Fort Lauderdale Police officer at the Broward Health Medical Center, authorities said.

An arrest report obtained by The Independent revealed that an active warrant was already out for Johnson in Georgia, after he failed to appear on “terroristic threats.”

In his Florida mugshot, Johnson’s blood-covered face looks heavily bruised, with one mark turning purple underneath his eye. The cheek on that side of his face looks heavily swollen. Blood has dried around his nose and mouth, with even one of his ears was soaked red. Some of the blood has splattered down onto his heavily tattooed chest.

A gloved hand also appears to be propping Johnson up.

Above one of Johnson’s eyes, he appears to have the word “IRISH” tattooed. Another tattooed word can be seen above his other eye, appearing to read: “PRIDE.”

Johnson was arrested on August 29, when an officer working an off-duty detail in full uniform responded to the waiting room at Broward Health Medical Center, according to the arrest report.

“I observed the defendant yelling at medical staff from the opposite side of the registration desk, causing a breach of peace in the waiting room and creating fear in the surrounding patients,” the officer wrote in the report.

It’s unclear what sparked his alleged outrage.

Upon seeing the officer, Johnson allegedly shouted: “I want to fight you.”

Then, the 240-pound man charged at the officer and grabbed him, while resisting attempts to restrain him, authorities said.

“I physically subdued his intentional, aggressive and violent behavior towards me and he was taken into custody,” the report reads.

The officer was left with a cut to his hand that required stitches, while Johnson was treated at the hospital for facial injuries before being taken to Broward County Main Jail.

According to court records viewed by The Independent, Johnson faces a slew of charges including aggravated battery on an officer, disorderly conduct and resisting an officer with violence. He has also been charged with assault on an officer, firefighter or emergency medical technician.
