Man dead, four injured in south-west Sydney shooting

A man has died and four others have been seriously injured following a south-west Sydney shooting, which is believed to be organised crime-related.

Two men, aged 28 and 32, presented with multiple wounds to Liverpool Hospital about 8:30pm on Tuesday, with police called to attend.

Fairfield Police Area Commander Craig Middleton will provide an update after a man died and four others were injured during a shooting at Canley Heights overnight.

The 28-year-old man presented to Liverpool Hospital with a 22-year-old man about 8.30pm on Tuesday night with multiple gunshot wounds.

After undergoing treatment the 28-year-old died a short time later.

The 22-year-old man remains in hospital in a serious condition with a neck injury.

About the same time two men - aged 22 and 23 - presented to Fairfield Hospital with gunshot wounds.

A fifth man, 19, presented to Liverepool Hospital with injuries to his arm.

Police believe all five were targeted in a shooting at Arbutus Street, Canley Heights.

The 28-year-old underwent treatment for a gunshot injury, but died a short time later.

The other man remains in a stable condition with a neck injury.

Shortly after 8:40pm, another two men, aged 23 and 22, attended Fairfield Hospital in a serious condition.

The 23-year-old had a gunshot injury to his neck.

Both men were moved to different hospitals for further treatment.

A 19-year-old man who presented to Liverpool Hospital at 9:50pm in a stable condition was also treated for injuries.

A crime scene was established at a home in Canley Heights, where police believe all men were injured during a shooting on Tuesday night.

Neighbours reported hearing gunshots at the home.

It is understood the incident is linked to organised crime networks, with police saying the motive behind the shooting was not yet known and investigations were ongoing.
