Man dies in multi-vehicle crash near Victoria-NSW border

A man in his 40s has died after a multi-vehicle crash near the Victoria-New South Wales border this morning.

Police say a van rear-ended a vehicle at Trentham Cliffs, near Mildura, causing the vehicle to collide with a truck travelling the opposite direction.

A man has died after a multi-vehicle crash in south-west New South Wales today, near the Victorian border town of Mildura.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Dansons Road and the Sturt Highway at Trentham Cliffs around10 kilometres from Mildura, just after 8:20am today after reports of a multi-vehicle collision.

NSW Police said a van had rear-ended a vehicle, causing the vehicle to collide with a B-double truck travelling the opposite way.

Ambulance Victoria treated a man in his 40s, but he died at the scene.

A driver was taken to Mildura Base Public Hospital for mandatory testing.

There were no other injuries reported.

Police are investigating the incident and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

Highway closed

In a separate incident earlier today, a 22-year-old man escaped injuries after a truck rollover in Trentham Cliffs about 5:30am, just kilometres away from the multi-vehicle collision.

A recovery operation is still ongoing to remove the truck.

Police said the Sturt Highway remains closed in both direction and will remain closed for a considerable amount of time.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
