Markus Lanz uses his acceptance speech at the German Television Award to appeal for social confidence

Markus Lanz used an acceptance speech at the German Television Prize to send a message about the social mood in the country. “I’m currently experiencing so many people who are very insecure, some of whom are afraid,” said Lanz, who was awarded in the “Best Information” category. “I want to say clearly: We are not emigrating. Here we are,” explained Lanz. And he added: “Don’t be afraid! And what’s broken right now, we’ll just rebuild it again at some point.”

Lanz was honored in Cologne for his ZDF talk show. Lanz perseveres, reveals contradictions quickly and is never satisfied with simple answers, the jury explained his nomination. This is the 57-year-old's second television award.

The award has been presented since 1999 and recognizes outstanding achievements in TV and streaming. It is carried by ARD, RTL, Sat.1, ZDF and Deutsche Telekom. The streaming providers Disney+, Netflix and Prime Video are partners.
