National Women's Volleyball Team Became Champion in the European Championship for the Second Time

After the National Women's Volleyball Team defeated Italy 3-2 in the Trendyol 2026 CEV European Championship final and became the champion for the second time in a row, Turkish Volleyball Federation President Mehmet Akif Üstündağ made a statement.

Üstündağ, who was very happy after the match, drew attention to the importance of the success achieved.

Stating that the final match was very competitive, Mehmet Akif Üstündağ said, "My blood pressure went away (laughing). With a championship here, we achieved a record-breaking success in the world. We were champions in both the Nations League and the European Championship in 2023. We said we would be champions of both the Nations League and the European Championship in 2026."

Emphasizing that one of the most important elements of success is the fans, Üstündağ said, "The most important thing was the fans. I would like to thank everyone who contributed. I would like to thank my Minister, he never left us alone."

Stating that the victory of the national team was very special for them, Üstündağ said, "There is nothing more beautiful than having the National Anthem read here and the Turkish flag raised in the sky. I would like to thank everyone who did not leave us alone."
