NBC Sports Bay Area reporter Jennifer Lee Chan said on YouTube, “I don’t think the [San Francisco] 49ers were ever in the mix to trade for Maxx Crosby at any point just because he’s so expensive.” “He’d cost a lot of money,” Lee Chan continued. “[Albert Breer] was saying that if the Niners are interested in him, they should definitely wait to see how it all plays out.” The star veteran edge rusher signed a 4-year, $94 million contract with Las Vegas in March 2022. At the expiration of this contract, he signed a massive 3-year, $106.5 million contract extension with $91.5 million in guaranteed money in March 2025. ESPN’s Ryan McFadden notes the blockbuster deal keeps Crosby under contract through the 2029 season. He still has four years left on his contract. According to Spotrac, his potential out is in 2028 when he will carry $0 in dead cap. In 2026, he is scheduled to earn a $30M base salary while carrying a $35M cap hit and a $64M dead cap value.
