The Deputy Chief of Thoi Lai Commune Police was prosecuted for failing to handle the case of intentionally causing injury

Mr. Tran Van Thuan (lieutenant colonel, Deputy Head of Thoi Lai Commune Police) and a subordinate were prosecuted for not handling the case of intentional injury and validating the bill to dismiss the suspect.

On August 21, Mr. Thuan (45 years old) and Nguyen Hoang Son (lieutenant, 32 years old, Thoi Lai Commune Police officer) were prosecuted by the Supreme People's Procuracy Investigation Agency to investigate the act of abusing positions and powers while performing official duties, according to Article 356 of the Penal Code.

The violation occurred while the two defendants worked at Truong Thang Commune Police, former Thoi Lai District (now Thoi Lai Commune Police, Can Tho). They were accused of not handling criminals according to regulations when receiving the case of Intentionally causing injury that occurred on December 21, 2023 at Mr. Dang Van La's house in the area.

Specifically, Mr. Thuan and Son did not collect injury records, did not fight to clarify the conflicts between the parties, invalidated the complaint, did not make a receipt record, and did not transfer the file to the district police.

Authorities assessed that this act was a direct intentional error, violated the proper operation of the agency conducting proceedings, and undermined the reputation of the judicial agency. In which, Mr. Thuan plays the mastermind role, Son is the practitioner.

On August 20, Mr. Thuan and Son were disciplined by being stripped of their People's Police titles.
