August bank holiday: over 24 million car journeys expected

Between last minute departures and the first returns, over 24 million vehicle movements are expected for the August bank holiday. Constantly increasing traffic is expected along the Anas network for the third weekend of August. Viabile Italia foresees a red sticker this afternoon and tomorrow morning and for trips from large urban centers for short weekends to holiday and seaside resorts.

While on Sunday 16th it will be due to the first returns to the big cities.

The ban on the transit of heavy vehicles is in force today, Friday 14 August from 4pm to 10pm, Saturday 15 August and Sunday 16 August from 7am to 10pm.

The intensification of traffic may concern the main tourist itineraries, in particular the major arteries of the central south and in the north the motorway junctions towards the border crossings.

In view of the increase in flows, Anas has strengthened staff commitment and reduced the presence of construction sites. Until September 7, 1,175 construction sites will be closed or suspended, 83% of the active ones (1,414). To cope with the increase in traffic, it employs around 2,500 technicians and operating personnel, together with the operators of the Territorial Operations Rooms and the National Situation Room.
