Powerful flood and landslide in Ponferrada: two dead and two minors injured

A powerful flood hit the towns of Manzanedo de Valdueza and Bouzas, in the municipality of Ponferrada in the province of Leon, also causing a landslide. At least two women died and two minors were slightly injured, as reported by sources from the government sub-delegation and the municipality. Authorities have denied that there are any missing people. Rescue services are active in the area.

The events occurred at 7.38pm on Saturday 15 August, with several calls to the emergency number. The notice was forwarded to the Ponferrada fire brigade, the national and local police, the Emergency Coordination Center and the Psychological Intervention Group in Disasters and Emergencies. A helicopter and two ambulances were sent to the scene.
