Power failures disrupt AIIMS CRE 2026 at Jaipur centres, rescheduled for September 7

Power failures at two Jaipur examination centres disrupted the AIIMS Common Recruitment Examination 2026 a day after a similar glitch hit NEET-PG at the same locations

NEW DELHI: A day after a power failure disrupted NEET-PG 2026 at two examination centres in Jaipur, the AIIMS Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) 2026 was hit by a similar power supply failure at the same centres, forcing AIIMS to cancel the test there and schedule a fresh examination for September 7. Barely 24 hours after the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare constituted a three-member committee to probe the power failure at the Jaipur centre, the same TCS-operated iON Digital Zone in Sitapura witnessed another disruption during the AIIMS CRE. The examination began at 9 am as scheduled but was interrupted by internal power supply issues at centres RJ0101 and RJ0102. AIIMS said the examination was cancelled at the two centres to safeguard the interests of affected candidates and maintain the integrity and fairness of the examination. A total of 2,000 candidates were registered at the two centres. Of these, 1,342 candidates at RJ0101 and 436 at RJ0102 appeared for the examination before the disruption. The affected candidates will now have to take the test afresh on September 7. AIIMS said suitable examination centres in Jaipur are being identified to accommodate them, either together or in smaller groups. Across the country, 21,098 candidates were registered for the first shift of the CRE on August 31, of whom 16,193 appeared. The examination was conducted as scheduled at all other centres except the two Jaipur centres. AIIMS has asked TCS to submit a detailed report on Monday's incident. It has also directed the examination service provider to preserve all relevant system logs, CCTV footage and control-room communications to facilitate a comprehensive assessment of the circumstances leading to the disruption.

The CRE is conducted for recruitment to Group B and Group C posts across AIIMS and other Central government and autonomous healthcare institutions. The current examination covers posts including Junior Administrative Assistant, Senior Administrative Assistant, Data Entry Operator, Personal Assistant, Stenographer, Private Secretary, Assistant Security Officer, Receptionist, Junior Medical Records Officer, Junior Warden, Hostel Warden, Telephone Operator and Social Security Officer. The CRE 2026 is being conducted over August 31 and September 1 in three shifts, allowing candidates who have applied for multiple posts to appear for all examinations for which they are eligible.
