Veríssimo de Mello Square revitalized in Macaé

The revitalization transformed the space into a modern, welcoming and functional environment, reinforcing the square's role as a point of social coexistence, cultural events and community integration. The project also strengthens local commerce, the solidarity economy and family farming, with the implementation of a fixed space to hold a permanent rural producers' fair, scheduled to operate from Monday to Friday.

The project included extensive urban restructuring and modernization of public facilities. Among the improvements implemented are the complete renovation of the playground, installation of drinking fountains for adults and pets, modernization of lighting with LED lamps and high-power reflectors, in addition to the implementation of new benches, tables, bicycle racks and trash cans.

The drainage system was expanded to ensure greater efficiency in the drainage of rainwater and prevent flooding. Services were also carried out to replace the interlocking floor, waterproof the lake and structural recovery of the bandstand, the square's historic heritage, which received restoration and new painting.

The revitalization also included a new landscaping project, with the restoration of green areas, planting of ornamental species and the creation of more pleasant and sustainable environments for the population to coexist.

With a requalified area and modernized structure, Praça Veríssimo de Mello once again occupies a prominent position in the city's urban life, bringing together leisure, culture, historical memory and economic development in a single public space.

More than an urban intervention, the revitalization represents an important historical and cultural recovery of Macaé. Directly linked to the formation of the municipality since the 19th century, the square accompanied different phases of the development of the old Vila de São João de Macaé and remains a symbol of the city's social, urban and cultural evolution.
