President: I have never met Przemysław Kral
On Saturday, at the residence of the President of the Republic of Poland in the seaside Jurata, a two-day meeting of President Karol Nawrocki and his wife Marta Nawrocka with young people began. "Przyszłość.pl". During the press conference, the president was asked about the Zondacrypto scandal and the right-wing politicians involved in it.
The president emphasized that he did not know Przemysław Kral personally. I have never met Kral, he said. He also said that "of course I learn about right-wing politicians involved in the scandal from the media." I am not interested in who met with Mr. Kral and in what place and under what circumstances, he stressed.
Nawrocki was also asked whether any of his campaign associates and later ministers or officials of the president's office met, contacted or consulted with representatives of the cryptocurrency industry, including Zondacrypto.
I asked my ministers if they had any contact with people from Zondacrypto. (...) I received confirmation that there were no such contacts - replied the president. He also noted that 700 council members and 50 advisors cooperate with him. Of course, I did not conduct such a check, said the president.
"This is not good news for the Prime Minister"
On Friday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that he would ask the Speaker of the Sejm, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, to vote on the president's third veto (of June 11 this year) to the act on the crypto-assets market. According to the announcement of the Speaker of the Sejm, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, this vote is to take place at the next session.
When asked to comment on this matter, Nawrocki emphasized that "every act, including the one on the cryptocurrency market, is analyzed in terms of what it will bring to Poland." He added that if his veto is overturned, "he understands that this will be the will of the Polish Sejm and the Polish Parliament."
According to the president, "the law proposed by the parliamentary majority would not change the situation with the Zondacrypto scandal." This is simply a bad bill, an attempt by the Prime Minister to deflect responsibility, he said.
If Prime Minister Donald Tusk believes that the Zondacrypto scandal is the biggest scandal after 1989, he has every right to do so, of course, but this is not good news for the Prime Minister. (...) I would like to remind you that the Polish services, for which the Prime Minister and the Minister Coordinating Special Services are responsible, are responsible for securing the well-being of Poles, said Nawrocki.
Nawrocki: I am not against eDziennik, but the bill must be well prepared
On Friday, President Karol Nawrocki vetoed the bill that was supposed to enable a state pilot of a free e-Diary in primary and secondary schools in the coming school year. It was to be, from the next school year 2027/2028, an alternative to the commercial electronic journals existing on the market.
President Karol Nawrocki explained that he was not against the state e-Diary, but - as he emphasized - the law regarding it must be well prepared. He noted that trade unions, experts and MPs pointed out that the bill he vetoed was bad.
This whole system is poorly prepared. He is unprepared. It is not ready to be implemented from September this year, said the president. I do not agree to children, parents and, above all, teachers being tested by the new system, he emphasized. He added that if a good bill comes to him, he will sign it.
I am not against the e-Diary, but if you want to prepare it properly, listening to the voice, the debate, the consultation of the Polish Teachers' Union and, above all, "Solidarity", if you want to see certain threats that are in this e-Diary formula, then amend this law, send it and then I will sign it - he assured.
“As long as I am president, I will listen to young people when making decisions.”
The question and answer session with the president, unavailable to the media, began after 16 on Saturday. It was preceded by a short speech by Nawrocki addressed to the youth gathered on the beach. The president noted that at every stage of his professional career he asked young people what they thought about the present and the future. He pointed out that he is also doing it now, as president, among others. sending draft laws for review by the Youth Council.
Today, discussing the future of Poland without youth is certainly incomplete, Nawrocki emphasized. He emphasized that as a representative of the "middle generation" he is responsible for "building the future of Poland with the voice of young people clearly audible, with respect for those from whom we can learn, because they are experienced and older than us."
Only the combination of generations gives us strength, development and awareness that we are moving into the future, said the president. Therefore, as long as I am president, I will listen to young people when making my decisions, he assured.
Thanks to such meetings, but also thanks to our cooperation in the Presidential Palace, young people have a real influence on the functioning and building of the political system of the Republic of Poland, Nawrocki emphasized during a later press briefing. He gave the example of the Youth Council operating in the office.
The Youth Council, which operates under the president, analyzed and issued opinions on five legislative initiatives, one of which resulted in a veto, he pointed out. He added that the Council is already preparing a legislative initiative, which is part of its "Plan 21".
It refers to free driving lessons in schools, Nawrocki pointed out. Moreover - as he said - after the first Congress of Students of Uniformed Universities, which was organized in Belweder in January this year, the Council is preparing a legislative initiative relating to "some more flexibility in the functioning of uniformed schools."
