RB Leipzig calls for patience with coach Demichelis after two defeats

RB Leipzig's sports director Marcel Schäfer has asked for patience with the new coach Martín Demichelis and the Bundesliga team after two bankruptcies in a row. «The last two results do not meet our expectations - we know that and we don't sugarcoat that either. We deal with this very clearly internally,” said the 42-year-old in a statement that the Leipzig-based company posted on its website.

“At the same time, we remain calm, focused and stand together as a club. This applies to all employees, the team and the entire coaching team. Everyone has our support and our trust,” said Schäfer. RB disappointed last weekend in Bremen (1:3) and on Thursday evening in the premier class in Como (1:4).

Winning against HSV is almost a must

Demichelis, who has only been in charge at RB for just over two months, is already under a lot of pressure publicly and from the fans. There is virtually no alternative to a win in the Bundesliga on Sunday against bottom team Hamburger SV.

Schäfer, whose transfer policy was sometimes viewed critically, referred to the many changes in the summer. “A newly assembled team needs time to find each other and develop processes. That’s the reality,” he said. “Now it’s about drawing the right conclusions together, continuing to work hard and steering developments in the right direction in the coming weeks.”
