Rescue teams find two dead after small plane crashes near Croatia’s Zadar

Two people were found dead late Friday after a small plane flying from the Czech Republic crashed in the mountains of Paklenica National Park, about 60 kilometres northeast of the coastal city of Zadar, news agency AP reported citing Croatian authorities said.

“The search for the missing ultralight plane was concluded around 10pm when members of the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service found the plane and two dead persons," Croatian police said in a statement.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the nationalities of the two people on board.

Police said the crash site would be secured for an on-site investigation early Saturday to determine the circumstances of the accident.

The search operation began after air traffic control raised an alarm when the aircraft’s signal was lost at around 4pm local time. Rescue teams later located the wreckage in the mountainous area.
