This means that the missile will fly at a speed just shy of 30,000 km an hour or about 8 km per second. It has a stated range of 5,500 km and can cover China, most of Europe and Africa. Once deployed, the Agni‑V enhances survivability against ballistic missile defence systems through a depressed trajectory launch that reduces the flight time and therefore reduces the enemy's reaction window. The missile’s excess energy can be used for mid‑course manoeuvres, complicating interception attempts. Agni‑V is a three‑stage, solid‑fuelled, road‑mobile ballistic missile housed in sealed canisters that enable long‑term storage, rapid transport, and ready‑to‑fire deployment. The Agni-V is guided by the indigenously developed NAVIC system, Inertial Navigation System (INS) as well as by a ring laser gyroscope.
